Abstract

Any attempt to define or systematize the horrors conceived by Lovecraft must take into account the fact that Lovecraft himself never defined or systematized his own horrors. In any given story, Lovecraft would delve into his bag of vague and horrific beings and insert references to them in order to spice up the tale. Consequently, some of the stories in which the being is named may not necessarily align with other stories with the same being. This said, there are hints and themes throughout Lovecraft’s stories that can help us construct a more fleshed-out some of the characteristics of any given Lovecraftian being.
